Smithtown is primarily known for its four state parks, Short Beach Long Beach, Kings Park Bluff, and Callahan's Beach. These parks and beaches make Smithtown a tourist destination and a great place to live for the scenery alone, but it also has many other attractions that locals and visitors love to frequent.

Local Lifestyle

Smithtown is considered one of the best places to live on Long Island. Residents enjoy a peaceful life away from the business of New York City while still having the opportunity to maintain a lifestyle as lively as they want. New York City isn't far from Smithtown, so residents can visit the city whenever they'd like, but the small town does have a lot for people to do.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Smithtown has several restaurants that residents of the town love to visit. There's plenty of seafood, steak, and just about anything else a person could want. One of the best ways to truly enjoy seafood is by going out for some sushi. A great place to go for sushi is H2O, a restaurant serving sushi dishes and other types of seafood. Head over for some good food and dine on the patio for an even better experience! Another restaurant you should try out in Smithtown is Insignia. They offer steak and sushi daily.

Some days we just crave Italian food, and La Famiglia is there to serve you the perfect Italian dishes. The restaurant is family-owned and operated, serving authentic Italian food created by an Italian family. Try out their Chicken Parmigiana or Shrimp Scampi for a real Italian experience.

If you're looking for a unique option, Chop Shop Bar and Grill may be your best choice. It's a lovely little American grill with leather seating and a classic grill interior design. They have sandwiches, burgers, steaks, salads, soup, and a wide variety of other entrees and side dishes. Be sure to check them out while you're wandering Main Street!

Things to Do

If you're looking for something fun to do, Sweet Briar Nature Center is where you should go. You can learn all about Smithtown's habitats and even watch raptor presentations. Occasionally the park will hold live music festivals where you can enjoy music from local artists, enter raffle contests, and check out food and souvenirs from several vendors in the area. Another park to attend in Smithtown is Blydenburg County Park, a forested park with hiking trails, a playground for children, a picnic area, and a pond where you can go boating and/or fishing.

Smithtown Performing Arts Center is a venue to enjoy live music, play, musicals, and other performing arts. During these education classes, participants are given a part to act in a play or musical the center showcases.
