Ask someone what's new to eat in Huntington Village and you'll get a list of names: Pasta Joint, Kahani, maybe Wonder if they've driven past Huntington Commons lately. What that list won't tell you is that two of those newcomers didn't start as strangers testing the market. They're second acts from restaurant families who already had a hit a few storefronts away and decided to bet on themselves again, and the pattern says more about how the village is actually growing than any single new menu does.
Same Family, Third Concept On Wall Street
Bistro Cassis has held down 55 Wall St. for years, built around a French bistro menu of coq au vin, steak frites, and moules provençales, served in a room of vintage mirrors, rich wood tones, and marble-topped tables. It's owned by brothers Eric and Jason Machado, who also run MB Ramen elsewhere in town. The same family recently took over the former Faz's space at 28 Wall Street and opened Pasta Joint, built around fresh pasta and comforting classics rather than the bistro's French menu.
That's three restaurants from one family, all a walk apart on the same short stretch of the village. If you've eaten at Bistro Cassis and trusted what came out of that kitchen, Pasta Joint is the same team applying that standard to a different menu, not a new operator hoping to figure it out on your dime.
Same Playbook, One Street Over
The same pattern shows up on New York Avenue. Brothers Amarjit "Rana" Singh, Daljit "Raja" Singh, and Jasprit "Bobby" Singh built a following with their smashburger spot BRGRS at 392 New York Ave. Last fall they opened Kahani at 400 New York Ave., a Punjabi restaurant and cocktail bar built around dishes like Patiala lamb chops, a mango cilantro chicken curry, and Delhi chaat. The front of the space is anchored by an 80-year-old mahogany bar and marble tile floors, while the 65-seat dining room in back runs on dark wood floors, Persian rugs, and sixteen crystal chandeliers brought in from India.
Two families, two streets, the same logic: open your second concept close enough to your first that regulars can walk between them instead of driving across town to find out if the new place is any good.

Not everything opening in Huntington this year fits that walkable, family-run mold. In February, Wonder opened its 100th U.S. location at 825 New York Ave. in the Huntington Commons shopping center. Wonder is a different kind of concept entirely, a platform that lets customers order from several restaurant brands in a single transaction, with menus spanning barbecue, pizza, and salads meant to cover a table of mixed preferences. It's open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and during its opening week the company donated a dollar from every order to Island Harvest, a Long Island hunger relief organization. The brand already operates dozens of locations across the Northeast and has been expanding its Long Island footprint in recent months, including a site on Walt Whitman Road in Melville.
Huntington Commons sits in the commercial stretch of New York Avenue, not the walkable blocks around Wall Street. That split is worth noticing. The village's dining growth right now is happening in two different directions: family operators reinvesting on foot-traffic streets downtown, and a national food-hall format landing in a shopping center a short drive from the village center. Both are real. They just serve different kinds of nights, and knowing which is which saves you from driving to Huntington Commons expecting a stroll past storefronts.
The Festival Still Has Two Weeks Left
While the restaurant map has been shifting, Heckscher Park has been doing what it's done since 1965. The Huntington Summer Arts Festival is in its 61st year, running free shows at the Chapin Rainbow Stage Wednesdays through Sundays, with roughly 40 performances across music, dance, and theater packed into an eight-week season. As of today, the 2026 run continues through Aug. 22, which leaves close to two weeks still on the calendar. The festival is produced by the Town of Huntington and presented by the Huntington Arts Council, and over six decades it has built a reputation for mixing hometown groups with touring acts across genres that range from rock and jazz to classical and gospel.
That timing matters more than it sounds. Heckscher Park sits an easy walk from the Wall Street restaurant row, which means a dinner at Pasta Joint or Bistro Cassis, or a stop at Kahani a few blocks over on New York Avenue, and a free show afterward is a realistic plan on any night the festival is still running.
Wall Street Already Closed To Traffic Three Times This Summer
The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce has run its own programming on top of the festival. Summer in the Streets closes Wall Street to traffic between Main and Gerard streets and turns it into a pedestrian block party with live music, local vendors, and outdoor dining from the restaurants that line the street. This year's series started with a block party in Huntington Station on July 9, then moved into the village for two more dates, July 16 and July 23.
Each of those closures happened on the same block where Bistro Cassis and Pasta Joint now sit within an easy walk of each other. The restaurants opening this year aren't just new options. They're opening onto blocks the village has spent the summer redesigning around foot traffic rather than parking, on nights when the street itself becomes part of the draw. A restaurant family betting on a second address only a few doors from its first is making a quieter version of the same bet the Chamber makes every time it closes Wall Street to cars: that people will show up on foot if you give them a reason to.
What This Adds Up To
None of this requires a special occasion. If you're deciding where to eat this week, the honest answer is that the newest, most talked-about kitchens in Huntington Village are run by people who already proved themselves a few doors away, and they happen to sit on the same streets the village has spent the summer turning into a place to walk rather than drive through. With the Summer Arts Festival's final stretch still running through Aug. 22, that's as good a reason as any to pair dinner with a free show before the season wraps for the year, and to notice that the village growing around you isn't random. It's mostly the same few families betting on the block they already know.
